Heavy hailstorm and heavy rain lashed the northeastern a part of Mizoram on Saturday, damaging over 200 homes, an official mentioned.
No casualties had been reported, the official mentioned.
Phuibuang village and adjoining villages of Saitual district bordering Manipur acquired hailstorm on Saturday night. Not less than 235 homes had been broken by the hail in Fuibuang village, of which 71 had been fully broken, he mentioned.
He mentioned that detailed studies from different villages are awaited. He mentioned that the district administration is taking reduction measures and offering tarpaulins to the households whose homes have been broken by the hailstorm.
Lalthaliana, president of Fuibuang Village Council, mentioned that at round three o’clock within the afternoon, there was heavy rain within the village with sturdy wind and hail.
He mentioned that tin roofs of 235 homes within the village, of which about 500 homes, have been broken by the hailstorm as much as the scale of an egg. He mentioned round 70 households have been shifted to safer locations as their homes weren’t match for occupancy if it rains once more.
He mentioned village councils and NGOs have known as for neighborhood service to restore broken homes on Sunday.
